The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines will run 6 trips in the Sulu Sea with their research vessel, the M/Y Navorca, from April to May of 2020, three (3) of which will be headed to Cagayancillo and the other three (3) to Tubbataha Reefs.

Primetime is actively supporting WWF-Philippines and projects, assisting with activities such as MPA monitoring, livelihood support, and the survey of sharks, fish, corals, and seabirds. We sail with WWF-Philippines, and we would like to invite our guests to do so as well.

Our guests have the option to team up with WWF-Philippines’ researchers and immerse themselves in the daily work of marine conservationists. Guests can also engage in alternative sustainable activities through our diving and shore programs, customized to cater to a maximum of eight (8) guests and two (2) diving instructors.

Two evening events will also be held aboard Primetime during the cruise, to give time for guests to bond and discuss with the research team.

Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park encapsulates every diver’s dream of experiencing one of the few remaining healthy and pristine coral reef ecosystems on the planet. We work hand in hand with local and international scientists to gain access to unexplored and less frequented areas of Cagayancillo and Tubbataha as we continue our commitment to conservation efforts in the region.

ABOUT US

Our Singapore based, luxury sailing catamaran under Swiss management offers four suites for a maximum of eight guests. The 2012-built Yacht has been fitted with all factory upgrades to specialize in catering to high class diving. The 20-meter sailboat is a flagship project from the French builder, Lagoon, customized for off- grid expeditions in 2018 and 2019. Aside from the impressive 250 squaremeter sail area, Primetime also has two 150 HP Volvo Penta diesel engines for propulsion. Air fillings on board are done using a Nuvair Nitrox compressor and two Bauer Air compressors, while an impressive 3.5kW solar roof delivers electrical power.

M/Y NAVORCA

The M/Y Navorca has served as WWF-Philippine’s research vessel since 2008. Refurbished in 2011, the M/Y Navorca is equipped with navigational and communication equipment, and has provided safe passage for research trips, expeditions, educational tours, and rescue operations.
The M/Y Navorca spans 80 feet and has a displacement of 70 gross tons. It boasts an eight-man crew, and has space for additional passengers.
The M/Y Navorca provides transportation services for WWF-Philippines’ conservation initiatives in the Sulu Sea, particularly in Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park and the island municipality of Cagayancillo. The vessel is crucial in obtaining data needed to protect the local environment.

As Primetime is a sailing Catamaran on the way to sustainability, we have established initiatives to make our expedition cruises more sustainable by using and/or implementing the following:

Water Making Machine: Pristine potable water is made readily available on board through the installed water making machine and filtration system which can also be used on all beverages.

Diesel saver: The yacht’s power source is diversified by using a combination of fuel and renewable energy by means of wind and solar panels. Primetime is equipped with a 40kW battery capacity, which is charged mainly using it’s solar roofing.

Plastic collector: Together with WWF-Philippines, Primetime believes in every individual’s capacity to be an advocate and steward of the environment. We encourage our guests to take positive action against plastic pollution by collecting marine debris during their dive and while taking their leisurely walk on the beach and most especially disposing it properly.

Saying No to Single-use: We try to avoid single-use plastics on board. Instead of using disposable PET bottles, guests are provided with a 500ml metal bottle for their drinking needs.

Sustainability Fee

As an added initiative, Primetime has started charging $ 1 or 2 USD per can or bottle of softdrink and beer, which will be matched by Primetime, to be donated directly to one of the local projects.

[table id=6 /]

  • Primetime will be donating USD369-468 for each booked paying guest to WWF-Philippines.
  • Moreover, the researchers can freely use Primetime’s facilities and technology as needed, such as the Mavic drone and DPVs.
